Halloween Monster STEAM Freebie Writing Activity
Have you tried the ChatterPix App?
It is a great way to integrate STEAM into your classroom by bringing pictures to life!
Integrate technology, art, and writing by having students draw a monster, write a monster story, then have students animate their monster using the ChatterPix App!
Step 1: Draw a Monster Using the Directed Drawing Template
First, have students draw a monster using the directed drawing template. If you have younger students you may want to do this step as a whole class. Be sure to model each step for students.
Step 2: Write a Story About Your Monster
Next, have students write a fictional story about their monster. Use the graphic organizers to help students plan their writing. Be sure that the story includes characters, setting, problem, important events, and a solution.
Step 3: Use the ChatterPix App to Take a Photo of Your Monster
In order to have students animate their monster, first have them take a picture of their drawing using the ChatterPix App. Then have them draw a line showing where the mouth of their monster is located.
Step 4: Record Your Monster Story
Next have students record their story or a summary of their story. Be aware that the ChatterPix App only allows for a 30 second recording.
Once students have their recording they can decorate their video by adding stickers and a frame. Students can also type text on their video. We recommend having students type their name on the video.
